The Prague Lions are heading into the decisive weeks of the ELF season. With two games remaining, a playoff spot is almost within reach – but only two victories will guarantee a place in the post-season. Every move counts now.
This is the most important phase of the European League of Football season for the Prague Lions. After a year marked by ups and downs, they are within touching distance of the playoffs – but the path ahead is anything but easy. Two games remain, against Frankfurt Galaxy and the Helvetic Mercenaries. Both must be won. It’s the final act – and every mistake could mean elimination.
This Sunday, they face Frankfurt Galaxy – a team still in the running for a playoff spot themselves. The pressure is on for the German side – a loss would end their season. For both teams, the clash will be nothing short of a final. The pressure is intense, and the stakes are even higher.

The mood in the Lions’ camp is tense but focused. The team has shifted into playoff mode – every training session is treated as if it were already a quarter-final. Wide receiver Mathyas Bily summed it up on the official European League of Football website: “We’re going into these games absolutely hungry. We have to win both if we want to make the playoffs. For us, it’s nothing but finals from here on out.”
His teammate William Patterson believes the key lies in attention to detail: “It’s about staying focused and getting a little better every day,” he said on the league website.
Resilience After Setbacks
The 2025 season has been anything but a walk in the park for the Prague side. Narrow defeats and missed opportunities shaped the first half of the season. But the team stayed strong – and unity grew. “We’ve experienced a lot of setbacks, but we never stopped believing in ourselves,” said Bily. “In the end, we stuck together and delivered when it mattered most.”

Two games. One goal. No excuses.
The Prague Lions now face two decisive matchups – against Frankfurt and Zurich. Frankfurt are direct wildcard rivals, while the Helvetic Mercenaries are already out of the running. Two wins would almost certainly secure a playoff berth. One loss, however, would mean having to rely on outside help in Week 14.
The Lions’ mission is clear: they need a win – ideally in front of a packed crowd at Žižkov Stadium. Tickets are available online via Ticketmaster.
