The construction of an underground station at Prague Airport has moved a step closer. Správa železnic has received the legally valid approval to implement the project as part of the Prague – Airport – Kladno rail connection. The station is scheduled for completion in 2030.
An important milestone for the planned rail connection from Prague’s Masaryk Station to Václav Havel Airport and onwards to Kladno has been achieved: Správa železnic has completed the legally binding approval process for the new underground station project. This brings the construction of the first underground railway station in the Czech Republic significantly closer – with completion planned for 2030.

Financing for the new station will be via a PPP model (public–private partnership). The total cost of the project amounts to around 6.5 billion koruna.
With the approval granted, the starting signal for construction has effectively been given: implementation is due to begin in 2027 and will take three years. A selected concessionaire, appointed as the operator for the PPP project, will be responsible not only for the construction of the station but also for the subsequent track sections from the airport to Ruzyně and onwards to Veleslavín.
The new underground station will feature two tracks with a central platform. From here, passengers will have convenient access to both airport terminals.
The project is being coordinated by Správa železnic in close collaboration with Prague Airport, with which a cooperation agreement has already been signed. The aim is a station that meets modern airport standards, with particular emphasis on functional simplicity and timeless design.

A key part of the line from Masaryk Station to Prague Airport was recently opened with the new Bubny station. Since the beginning of August, trains from Kladno and Kralupy have been running directly to Masarykovo nádraží again.
The new underground station is already part of Prague Airport’s future plans, presented in October 2023. In addition to expanding terminal capacity by 2033, the plans foresee a rail connection from the airport to Prague city centre by 2030.
