At the end of September, the Kozel Brewery in Velké Popovice invites the public to the traditional Klobáskofest. Guests can enjoy hearty sausage specialities, fresh beer, and a colourful supporting programme with tours and music. Admission is free.
On Saturday, 20 September, the brewery will open its doors for the popular festival. From 10:00 to 17:00, not only will there be savoury sausage dishes, but visitors can also enjoy a varied programme with discovery tours through the brewery, beer tastings, and the “Kozel School of Tapping”.
“The Klobáskofest is open to everyone who wants to spend a day enjoying good food, beer, and entertainment. Whether alone, with friends, or with the whole family, there is something for everyone,” promises Eva Kršňáková, Head of the Visitor Centre in Velké Popovice and Nošovice.

The guided brewery tours also offer fascinating insights into the history of the house, which was founded in 1874 by František Ringhoffer II. Visitors will see both historical and modern brewing kettles, a display of beer packaging, and the traditional brewing cellars. Here, under supervision, guests can tap their own beer and immediately put their newly learned skills into practice. The tour concludes with a meeting with the brewery’s mascot, the billy goat Olda.

A new addition to the route is a small hop garden, established in November 2024 in cooperation with the Žatec Hop Growers’ Association. On 24 square metres, three rows of the Czech aroma variety Sládek are growing. “Our staff take care of everything – from stringing the wires and guiding the plants to weeding. The harvest will later be used by hobby brewers and in the Visitor Centre,” explains Jan Drál, who oversees the project.
Further information can be found online on the brewery’s website.
