Hradec Králové is celebrating in style: to mark the city’s 800th anniversary, visitors can look forward to the largest drone show ever seen in the Czech Republic this July. An evening full of lights, music and highlights awaits.
Hradec Králové is preparing for a very special event: on 12 July, the sky above the airfield in the East Bohemian city will become the stage for the largest drone show ever held in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Five hundred drones will perform a spectacular light choreography – a visual highlight to commemorate the first written mention of the city 800 years ago.
‘The drone show will undoubtedly be a unique experience – both in its execution and in its scale. There has never been anything like it in our country before,’ says Mayor Pavlína Springerová. Previous shows in the Czech Republic have used about half as many drones.

But there’s more to see than just the sky. At the ‘Park 360’ site, visitors can expect a varied stage programme with well-known acts such as Tata Bojs, the locally rooted The Atavists, and the energetic funk band Šufunky Gang. Gates open at 5 p.m., and admission is free. The drone show begins at 10 p.m., followed by further programme highlights until 1 a.m.
The city is also providing a shuttle service: between 4:45 p.m. and 1 a.m., 15 articulated buses will run free of charge between the Aldis Congress Centre, the Green Parking car park and the event site. According to Miroslav Hloušek, Deputy Mayor for Transport, this will allow up to 5,000 visitors to be transported per hour.
The area around Park 360 will be closed to cars, except for designated parking areas at Piletický Creek behind Kaufland. Parking spaces are available there for 100 koruna. However, the temporary site will remain closed in the event of rain.
The organisers are expecting large crowds and are appealing to residents of surrounding communities for their understanding: ‘To avoid traffic chaos, we are using a tried-and-tested concept that we have already used for Ed Sheeran’s concerts,’ says Ivan Kurtev from the Hradec Králové Culture and Education Society.
