Prague Airport Opens Its Own Gallery – First Exhibition Showcases the Beauty of Czech Nature

The exhibition was realised in cooperation with Czech Photo

Travellers at Václav Havel Airport in Prague can now do more than just take off – they can also enjoy an artistic experience: a new gallery has opened in Terminal 2. The inaugural exhibition presents award-winning nature photography from across the Czech Republic and is freely accessible to all visitors.

Václav Havel Airport is setting a new cultural tone in Prague with the launch of its own gallery in Terminal 2. The first exhibition, Czech Nature Photo, features striking images of Czech landscapes, flora and fauna – captured by both professionals and passionate amateur photographers.

‘We want to continuously enhance the atmosphere in our terminals and create an environment where both travellers and visitors feel at ease. This also includes providing aesthetic experiences,’ says Jakub Puchalský, member of the board of Prague Airport. In addition to permanent artworks installed throughout the airport, the new exhibition space in the public area of Terminal 2 will now regularly host themed displays.

The debut exhibition, Czech Nature Photo, celebrates the spectacular landscapes, plants, and animals of the Czech Republic. ‘This exhibition not only highlights the outstanding work of Czech photographers but also reflects the rich diversity of the country’s natural environment. It perfectly aligns with our aim to introduce international guests to the beauty, art and culture of our nation,’ Puchalský adds.

The works on display have been selected from the past eight editions of the prestigious Czech Nature Photo competition, which invites entries from both professionals and ambitious amateur photographers. Each year, an international jury selects the most impressive photographs.

‘We believe it is essential to raise awareness of the importance of nature,’ explains project manager Veronika Souralová. ‘Through photography, we aim to convey the message that every one of us bears responsibility for the environment. At the same time, we want to encourage people to take an active role in protecting it.’

The exhibition was created in collaboration with Czech Photo, which also curates major photographic projects in other prominent locations. On display are selected works from the category Best Photography of Czech Nature, including pieces by Petr Bambousek, Vladimír Čech Jr., Vít Lukáš, Markéta Mastešová, Igor Mikula and Martin Pelánek.

The exhibition is open until the end of October – admission is free.
