World’s Largest Ice Hockey Arena Planned in Pardubice

Pardubice is planning a new multifunctional ice hockey arena with a capacity of more than 22,000 spectators. If completed as planned, it could become the largest ice hockey arena in the world.

A new ice hockey arena is planned in Pardubice which, with a projected capacity of 22,296 spectators, could become the largest in the world. The owner of ice hockey club Dynamo Pardubice, Petr Dědek, presented the ambitious project to city representatives. A capacity of 15,000 seats was originally planned, but the plans have since been expanded. Completion of the arena is scheduled for August 2027.

As sport.cz reports, the project is also set to include a smaller arena, a hotel and a multi-storey car park. The entire development is expected to cost CZK 10.5 billion – more than the CZK 8 billion estimated in December. The arena will include various seating and standing areas, including VIP seats and spaces for people with disabilities.

The venue is intended to be used not only for ice hockey matches, but also for concerts and other major events. According to Dědek, up to 26,000 people could fit into the arena for concerts. With around 100 events per year, the multifunctional arena is intended to become a central event venue in the region.

Currently, the largest ice hockey arena is the venue in St Petersburg, which has a capacity of 21,542 spectators. The planned arena in Pardubice would exceed this figure and could therefore secure a place in the Guinness Book of Records.
