Who we are
Future Developments s.r.o.(trading as “Prague Daily News”), registered at Rybná 716/24, 110 00 Prague 1, Czech Republic (company ID 03472451), operates the website at www.praguedaily.newsand decides how and why your personal data is processed (we are the “controller”). For any privacy question or request, contact us at info@praguedaily.news.
What we collect, and why
- Newsletter sign-up. When you subscribe — through a form, pop-up, banner, or the footer — we process your email address and the records that prove your consent: subscription status; sign-up, confirmation and unsubscribe times; the page or campaign you signed up from; the version of the consent text and of this policy you agreed to; a hashed form of your IP address; and basic browser information. Legal basis: your consent.
- Audience measurement. We measure how the site is used — for example page views, visits and approximate, non-identifying location and device signals. Our own first-party analytics records aggregate, non-identifying statistics; Google Analytics and Vercel Analytics run only with your consent. Legal basis: your consent for the third-party analytics cookies; our legitimate interest in aggregate, non-identifying statistics for our own first-party measurement.
- Advertising. We show ads through Revive Adserver and Google, and use Google Ads conversion tracking, which may set cookies or identifiers to deliver and measure ads and campaigns. Legal basis: your consent.
- Messages you send us. If you email us or submit a contact or advertising form, we process the details you provide so we can reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in responding, or taking steps at your request before any agreement.
- Cookie choices. We store the choices you make in our cookie banner so we can respect them.
How the newsletter consent works
Entering your email never subscribes you on its own. We first record a pending request and email you a confirmation link; you only become a subscriber after you click it (double opt-in). Every newsletter includes a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. We keep the consent records above as proof of your opt-in.
If you join our WhatsApp channel, your participation is also governed by WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy. We only receive the information WhatsApp’s channel features make available to us.
Cookies
We use essential cookies that are needed for the site to work and to remember your consent choices, and — only with your consent — analytics and advertising cookies. We also store a small functional marker in your browser (a cookie and a local-storage entry) when you dismiss or complete our newsletter sign-up prompt, so we don’t show it to you again; this expires after about 180 days and you can clear it through your browser. You can change or withdraw your consent choices at any time through the cookie settings on the site. Our Cookie Policy explains the categories in more detail.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your personal data. We rely on a small number of trusted providers that process data on our behalf and under our instructions — including website hosting (Vercel) and content delivery (Cloudflare), our email provider (Resend), our database and back-end (Convex), analytics providers (Google, Vercel), and our ad server (Revive). Each acts only as our processor.
Transfers outside the EEA
Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
How long we keep it
We keep your email and consent records for as long as you are subscribed, and for a reasonable period afterwards so we can evidence your consent and honour unsubscribe requests. Analytics information is kept only in aggregate, non-identifying form. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw your consent at any time (which does not affect processing carried out beforehand). To exercise any of these, email info@praguedaily.news. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Czech supervisory authority, the Office for Personal Data Protection (Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů), at www.uoou.cz.
Children
The site is intended for a general, adult audience. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date above always shows the current version, and the version you agreed to is recorded with your newsletter consent.
