Delta flies direct again: Daily connection between Prague and New York

The service is expected to operate until 6 October, linking the two cities with a daily flight lasting around nine hours.

Delta Air Lines is once again offering daily flights between Prague and New York. The direct service will run until early October and is expected not only to boost transatlantic travel but also to result in lower ticket prices.

Delta has resumed regular flights between Prague and New York. The route is scheduled to operate until 6 October, providing a daily flight of approximately nine hours. Passengers will depart from Prague’s Ruzyně Airport at 11:00 a.m., arriving in New York at 6:30 p.m. local time.

Currently, interest in travel to the United States has declined by 15 per cent since January, with demand shifting more towards Asian destinations. However, according to the director of the Letuška.cz portal, a regular direct connection between Prague and New York always attracts travellers, as its resumption typically results in reduced ticket prices.

Despite ongoing political uncertainty, Letuška.cz reports that there is still considerable interest in travel to North America. This is why the regular Prague–New York route is once again part of the flight schedule.

“The demand for long-haul flights increases at an above-average rate whenever a direct connection is available. Around 40,000 passengers use this route every year, roughly half of whom are inbound travellers. At the same time, the connection leads to a drop in fares. Currently, the cost of a return ticket for a direct flight from Prague to New York is around 16,000 crowns — and prices are expected to remain low due to strong competition between airlines on this route. However, most of the lower-priced options involve transfers at other European airports,” said Josef Trejbal, director of Letuška.cz. According to him, many passengers transfer to domestic flights in New York — most commonly to Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, or Tampa.

Together with its subsidiaries, including Delta Connection, the airline operates over 5,000 flights a day and serves around 300 destinations in 52 countries across six continents.
