Night of the Churches: One Evening. Many Churches. Full Programme.

The Night of Churches is an annual, nationwide event during which places of worship open their doors to the public in the evening and at night

On Friday Prague will be transformed into a stage for silence, music and contemplation. For the Night of Churches, numerous sacred spaces will open their doors and invite you to a special evening. Visitors can expect a varied programme of concerts, guided tours, meditations and more.

Silence that speaks – and spaces that tell stories. On Friday, 23 May 2025, Prague will once again experience a magical evening. During the Night of Churches (Noc kostelů), the doors of churches, chapels and other places of worship will open. Concerts, guided tours, silent meditations and extraordinary experiences await beneath the vaulted ceilings of these sacred spaces.

The Night of Churches is an annual, nationwide event during which religious sites are open to the public in the evening and at night. In Prague, dozens of churches and cathedrals of various denominations take part, offering a diverse programme of free activities – from guided tours, organ concerts and choral singing to exhibitions, children’s programmes and the chance to simply sit and absorb the unique atmosphere.

The theme of the 2025 edition is ‘Hope’ (Naděje). The aim of the event is to provide a deeper insight into Christianity – not through external rituals and symbols, but through the mindset, behaviour and values of the people who meet, pray or pause in these places.

Experience iconic churches in a new light

Whether it’s the majestic St Vitus Cathedral, St Nicholas Church in Lesser Town, the Gothic Bethlehem Chapel or one of the smaller, lesser-known churches – a unique experience awaits you everywhere. Evening light, music and silence bring a whole new dimension to these familiar buildings.

Many churches also offer special programmes for children, such as creative workshops, interactive trails or communal singing. And if you’re interested in architecture or history – or simply curious to visit places you wouldn’t usually explore – this night is the perfect opportunity.

The full programme for each venue is available at www.nockostelu.cz, where you can easily filter by location, time and type of experience. Entry is free – and everyone is welcome, regardless of personal faith.
