Childhood Memories on Rails: Cyclone Roller Coaster Returns to Prague

Following its success at this year’s Matějská pouť, the historic roller coaster will be back in June — and remain until October

The Zyklon roller coaster is making its return to the Prague Exhibition Centre after seven years. Visitors will be able to enjoy this iconic ride until October.

The much-loved Zyklon roller coaster, dating back to 1975 and long associated with the Prague Exhibition Centre, is returning temporarily after a seven-year absence. From June, it will operate daily — except Mondays — in the lower part of the exhibition grounds, offering fun and nostalgia.

Following its popularity at this year’s Matějská pouť, Výstaviště Praha is launching a pilot project to bring the ride back to its original location. Reconstructed and operated by Mr Štaubert, the attraction is suitable for all age groups. In addition to the roller coaster, visitors can look forward to bumper cars, a children’s railway, a merry-go-round, a bouncy castle, a swan ride, and a shooting gallery.

“We’ve agreed to a trial run of the roller coaster for 2025. Installation will begin at the start of June and take around ten days, after which the ride will open. Operated by its — you could say — saviour, Mr Štaubert, the coaster will be part of this year’s amusement park. We hope it will bring joy especially to children,” says Marie Šteglová, Sales Director at Výstaviště Praha.

The current plan is to keep the roller coaster until October. Should it remain popular with visitors, the ride — along with the entire concept — may return in the years to come.
