In early June, Prague will once again play host to world-class beach volleyball. At the Prague Beach Open, top international teams will face off against local favourites, including the Czech world champions.
After a four-year hiatus, the time has finally come: the international beach volleyball elite is returning to Prague. From 5 to 8 June, the world’s best will gather at the Ládví Beach Club, where the Czech national teams will also compete on home sand.
The Prague Beach Open, part of the World Beach Pro Tour, will take place for the second time in Prague’s Ládví district, following its 2021 debut. Back then, local heroes Ondřej Perušič and David Schweiner—now reigning world champions—claimed victory. Sweden’s Åhman and Hellvig, the current Olympic champions at the Paris Summer Games, finished third.This year, visitors to the tournament in Prague can once again look forward to seeing both teams, along with other top athletes from the Czech Republic and around the world.
Tournament Schedule at a Glance:
Wednesday, 5 June – Qualification:
Sixteen teams in each category will compete for a place in the main draw. Only four pairs per gender will progress to the main competition – for all others, the tournament ends after a single defeat.
Thursday, 6 June – Group Stage (8:30 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.):
A total of 16 teams (12 seeded and 4 from the qualification round) will battle it out in the group stage.
Friday, 7 June – Play-offs (9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.):
The decisive matches for a place in the quarter-finals will be held in the morning, followed by the quarter-final clashes in the afternoon.
Saturday, 8 June – Final Day (10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.):
The final day is all about the medals: first, the women’s and men’s semi-finals will be played, followed by the bronze medal matches – and finally, the grand finals for gold.
