Prague Airport is expanding its long-haul offering: Etihad Airways now operates regular flights to Abu Dhabi. This new connection strengthens tourism links and opens up new opportunities for both business and leisure travellers from the Middle East.
A new long-haul route was officially launched at Václav Havel Airport in Prague. Etihad Airways now flies four times a week from Prague to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The first aircraft from Abu Dhabi was welcomed on 2 June at Prague Airport with a traditional water cannon salute.
‘We are delighted that, after extensive negotiations, we have succeeded in establishing a partnership with Etihad Airways – an airline that was not previously represented at our airport. The new connection, which we have been able to realise in cooperation with Etihad Airways, confirms our strategy of gradually expanding our long-haul network,’ said Jiří Pos, CEO of Prague Airport.

Etihad Airways is operating a Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner on the Prague–Abu Dhabi route, offering a total capacity of 290 passengers in Economy and Business Class. The service is available four times a week: on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
‘Our new flight connection opens up a wide range of possibilities for passengers,’ added Arik De, Etihad Airways’ Director of Sales and Marketing. ‘With this new route, we are building an imaginary bridge between two extraordinary regions by connecting passengers from the Middle East with the heart of Europe.’

Visitors from the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern countries – such as Saudi Arabia and Israel – are among the most affluent guests, typically staying longer than average. Last year, more than 379,000 tourists from the Middle East visited the Czech Republic.
Abu Dhabi is the capital and largest city of the United Arab Emirates, where tradition and innovation blend seamlessly. Visitors are sure to be impressed by the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, which spans 12 hectares and can accommodate up to 41,000 worshippers. Art enthusiasts can explore the local branch of the French Louvre Museum. Formula 1 fans have the chance to attend the final race of this year’s season, which takes place in December at the Yas Marina Circuit. Yas Island also offers several amusement parks with attractions for the whole family, including Ferrari World, dedicated to the iconic Italian car manufacturer.
