Experience Prague Playfully: New Digital Campaign ‘Playing Prague’

A mix of challenging puzzles and entertaining discovery tours, the new mobile game is designed for both seasoned puzzle enthusiasts and casual gamers – with each level dedicated to a different district of Prague

Prague is kicking off the summer season with its own mobile game. The new app invites users to explore the city in a playful way – with tricky puzzles, real landmarks, and plenty of Prague flair.

Developed by the independent Prague-based studio Charles Games on behalf of Prague City Tourism, Playing Prague is a tribute to creativity, innovation, and the city’s thriving gaming culture. Blending challenging puzzles with engaging discovery tours, the game appeals to both dedicated puzzle fans and casual players. Each level focuses on a different Prague district and features well-known sights that inspire players to explore the real city.

With the start of the summer season, Prague aims to boost both domestic and international tourism. While the digital Prague.eu campaign targets ten key foreign markets – primarily Germany – the V Praze jako doma (At Home in Prague) initiative is directed at Czech travellers and is being promoted through TV commercials, print advertisements, and online channels. Central to these efforts is Playing Prague, an extraordinary game that not only engages tourists but also seeks to attract talent to the Czech capital. At the same time, the game supports the Study in Prague initiative, which aims to encourage international students to pursue their education in Prague.

‘With Playing Prague, we present the city as an open, inspiring metropolis – one that goes beyond its historical treasures and embraces modernity with an innovative travel experience,’ says Jiří Pospíšil, Deputy Mayor for Culture and Tourism. ‘The digital gaming experience combines entertainment with education – sparking curiosity about the city, its stories, and its cultural heritage.’

The creative concept merges game design, learning, and urban storytelling. Prague itself becomes the main character: in each level, players recreate famous landmarks, encounter figures such as Věra Čáslavská, Mozart, and Kafka, and discover the city’s cultural heritage through interactive play. The game includes classic house signs as card symbols, the distinctive Prague cobblestones, iconic towers, and even a historic tram as a goal to unlock.

‘Playing Prague is a relaxing logic game where players build the city by creating combinations and patterns to unlock new levels – each one representing an iconic Prague monument,’ explains Lukáš Kolek from the development studio Charles Games. ‘Our aim was to capture the unique atmosphere of Prague – the city we love. At the same time, we wanted players to create their own personal version of Prague: as they solve the challenges, their version of the city grows along the Vltava or around Petřín.’

Whether you prefer to wander from Prague’s Powder Tower to the cable car at Petřín, learning about landmarks and historical figures, or to strategically collect points and connect districts like a puzzle, Playing Prague offers something for everyone.

The game has been available for free on Google Play and the App Store since 11 June 2025 – in German, English, and Czech.
