    David Pastrňák wins the Golden Hockey Stick for the eighth time

    Despite a disappointing season for his team, the Boston Bruins, Pastrňák was once again the focus of attention at the World Championships

    David Pastrňák remains the face of Czech ice hockey: he won the ‘Zlatá hokejka’ award for the eighth time as the country’s best player. Players from the domestic league also impressed in this year’s vote.

    On Thursday, 26 June, the 57th edition of the prestigious ‘Zlatá hokejka’ (Golden Hockey Stick) sports award ceremony took place at the Na Vinohradech Theatre. For the eighth time in the last nine years, Czech ice hockey star David Pastrňák secured the coveted title of best player in the Czech Republic.

    The award for best junior went to Eduard Šalé, a young player from Brno who captained the Czech U20 national team to a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships.

    David Pastrňák once again impressed with outstanding performances: with 106 points (43 goals, 63 assists), he ranks fourth in the North American NHL productivity rankings. Despite a disappointing season for his team, he was in the spotlight at the World Championship. There, he dominated the tournament with six goals and nine assists in eight games and was named the player with the most points.

    Other awards went to Radek Zelinka as best para hockey player, Eduard Šalé as best junior, and Kristýna Kaltounková as best female ice hockey player. David Pastrňák also secured the title of most popular player of the season.
