Five Million E-Vignettes Already Sold in the Czech Republic this Year: New One-Day Tickets Particularly in Demand

Don’t pay more than necessary for an electronic motorway vignette

Sales of electronic motorway vignettes in the Czech Republic continue to rise. By the end of June, motorists had already purchased almost five million digital vignettes – nearly 400,000 more than during the same period last year. The new one-day vignette has been in particularly high demand since its introduction in March 2024.

Demand traditionally increases with the start of the summer season. This year, the authorities are once again expecting record sales in July and August. In the first half of 2025, exactly 4,899,993 digital vignettes were sold in the Czech Republic. The ten-day and annual vignettes were especially popular at the beginning of the year. Short-term vignettes, on the other hand, have become significantly more sought-after in the middle of the year, particularly before the summer holidays.

The new one-day vignette is enjoying a real boom: over a million were sold by the end of June – nearly 400,000 more than during the same period last year. “In the past, many motorists chose to take a detour because they didn’t want to buy a ten-day vignette for a single trip. Now they are opting for the daily vignette,” CENDIS spokeswoman Radka Nastoupilová told news channel ČT24.

Sales of other short-term vignettes – such as the 30-day option – have also risen. According to CENDIS, this is partly due to a growing desire to travel following the coronavirus pandemic, as well as an increase in international visitors.

The Ministry of Transport and the Czech Trade Inspection Authority continue to receive questions and complaints about overpriced vignettes. An increasing number of websites are appearing online, offering vignettes at prices above the official rates.

Currently, the cost of an annual vignette is CZK 2,440, the 30-day vignette costs CZK 460, the ten-day vignette is CZK 290, and the one-day vignette costs CZK 210. All current vignette types can be purchased up to 30 days in advance via the official websites edalnice.cz or edalnice.gov.cz.
