15th Prague Pride Festival Kicks Off Today – A Sign of Tolerance and Diversity

The official opening event will take place this evening on Střelecký Island

The 15th Prague Pride, one of the largest LGBT+ festivals in the Czech Republic, begins today in Prague. With a diverse programme, the festival sends a clear message for tolerance, equality and the right to self-determination.

The 15th Prague Pride kicks off today in the Czech capital. The official opening event will take place this evening on Střelecký Island. Among those performing at the launch is singer Aiko, who represented the Czech Republic at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest.

Under the motto “Kde domov můj?” (“Where is my home?”), this year’s programme includes over 180 events that focus on the lives of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) people.

The festival motto is intended to remind us that home is where one can truly be oneself. At the same time, it is a call for greater equality and respect, especially at a time when hatred and intolerance are once again on the rise in society.

The festival offers a wide range of activities – from panel discussions and workshops to cultural performances, community gatherings and sports events. The main locations include eight venues, among them the so-called Pride Village on Střelecký Island, considered the heart of the festival.

Colourful Demonstration Celebrates Diversity and Equality

The highlight of the festival is the annual Prague Pride Parade on Saturday, 2 August 2025. Thousands of people will once again march through the centre of Prague – loudly, confidently and full of joy – to celebrate diversity, love and equality. The colourful demonstration has become the largest of its kind in the Czech Republic and stands as a powerful symbol of tolerance and openness.
