České dráhy 2026: New International Train Services to Copenhagen, Villach and More

Travellers on the Prague – Dresden – Berlin – Hamburg – Copenhagen route have plenty to look forward to

From the 2026 timetable, České dráhy will expand its international train services, with new connections to destinations including Copenhagen and Villach. At the same time, passengers can expect greater comfort and modern train sets.

With the 2026 timetable, České dráhy is significantly increasing its international rail offerings while enhancing passenger comfort. By the first half of 2026, the delivery of the ComfortJet carriages will be completed, providing a total of 180 modern carriages across 20 train sets. This will allow more air-conditioned comfort carriages to be deployed on other routes and expand services on existing connections.

Faster and More Frequent Services to Berlin

Travellers on the Prague – Dresden – Berlin – Hamburg – Copenhagen route will particularly benefit. In addition to extending two year-round pairs and one seasonal train pair to Copenhagen, services to Hamburg will also be increased. From May, following the reopening of the Berlin – Hamburg line, all trains that previously terminated in Berlin will continue to the Hanseatic city on the North Sea.

    Improved Connections to Poland

Connections to Poland are also being enhanced. The EuroCity trains on the Prague – Gdynia Baltic Express route will receive a fifth carriage with a bistro area and second-class compartments, increasing capacity by 40 seats.

Night train services to Poland will also be expanded. A new EuroNight pair, Bohumín – Przemyśl Carpatia, will include through carriages from Munich, Vienna, Prague, and Budapest. At the same time, the EuroNight train Munich – Warsaw Chopin will be rerouted to run directly from Bohumín to Warsaw, allowing passengers to reach the Polish capital more quickly.

Railjet Services to Slovakia and Hungary

On routes to Slovakia, some Metropolitan and Hungaria trains will in future be operated with Railjet and ComfortJet units. These will run under the Railjet category, differentiating them from the EuroCity services still operated traditionally by the Slovak Railways (ZSSK).

Pendolino services between Prague and Košice will return to their traditional route, continuing to offer the fastest connections from Bohemia and Moravia to the Slovak mountains and eastern Slovakia.

Reaching the Borders of Italy and Slovenia

The most significant changes affect the Vindobona trains between Prague and Austria. With the opening of the new Koralmbahn line between Graz and Klagenfurt, substantial timetable adjustments will be required on Austria’s Southern Railway. Three daily train pairs will run along the Prague – Brno – Vienna – Graz – Klagenfurt – Villach route, a central hub for travel to Slovenia and Italy.

In addition, there will be a later direct service from Prague – Vienna – Berlin – Hamburg, departing Prague at approximately 19:30, around an hour later than at present. Transit connections between Ex3 and Ex5 lines from Budapest and Vienna to Berlin and Hamburg will also be revised: all train pairs will now travel via Praha-Holešovice station, skipping Prague’s main station.
