Prague is set to expand its tram network further, with two new lines planned for construction from early 2026. The Libuš – Nové Dvory and Olšanská – Habrová routes will improve connections to emerging districts and modernise existing stops.
The Prague Public Transport Company (Dopravní podnik hl. m. Prahy, DPP) recently announced public tenders for the two new lines. The Libuš – Nové Dvory line is expected to take approximately 26 months to complete, while the Olšanská – Habrová line should be finished in around 12 months. The Olšanská – Habrová project will receive partial funding from the European Union under the Transport 2021–2027 programme.
Libuš – Nové Dvory: 1.8-kilometre new line
The Libuš – Nové Dvory line will start at the existing Libuš stop, which will be fully redesigned during construction. The current turning loop will be replaced with a double-track line, and foundations will be laid for underground access to the future D metro station, ensuring tram services continue during metro construction.

The route continues north along Novodvorska Street to the existing Přírodní bus stops, which will be replaced by a new stop pair serving both trams and buses. After the Novodvorska / Chýnovská junction, the line ends in a block-shaped, single-track turning loop covering Novodvorska, Durychova, Libušska, and Chýnovská streets. In Durychova Street, separate boarding and alighting stops called “Nové Dvory” will be built near the vestibule of the future metro station. A “Chýnovská” stop will be established in Chýnovská Street for trams heading towards the city centre (Modřany). A second track for parked trams will also be added in the Novodvorska Street turning loop.
Olšanská – Habrová: two kilometres through new districts
The roughly two-kilometre Olšanská – Habrová line will run along the former Prague-Žižkov – Prague-Malešice local railway and the site of the old Žižkov freight yard, where a new district is under development. DPP plans to reuse much of the existing trackbed and sections of the former railway.

The line begins just north of the Jana-Želivského / Olšanska junction and ends in a turning loop at the southern end of Osiková Street. Six new stops will be introduced: Nový Žižkov and Nákladová, on the site of the former freight yard, will serve the new district; Malešická will improve access to the surrounding residential area; and Nad Kapličkou will serve residents and support local development. Habrová, on the single-track section, will have northern access, while Sídliště Jarov will form the terminus with a turning loop and island platform, also accessible only from the north.
