Parliamentary elections are due to take place in the Czech Republic in just over a month. According to the latest polls, the ANO party of former Prime Minister Andrej Babiš would clearly win the vote.
According to the August election model of the Kantar CZ agency for Czech Television (ČT), ANO would secure 33 per cent of the vote. Compared with the agency’s previous model, the Pirates and also the movement “Stačilo!” have gained support.
Based on the August polling figures, seven political parties would have crossed the required five-per-cent threshold for entering the Chamber of Deputies at the time the data were collected.
ANO has long occupied first place in the polls; the result of 33 per cent is similar to that of the June survey. However, the data have shown a slight decline in voter support for Andrej Babiš’s party since February. In second place is the SPOLU coalition, led by Prime Minister Petr Fiala, which has lost one percentage point compared with the previous poll and would currently receive 20 per cent of the vote.
STAN follows at some distance with twelve per cent. The right-wing SPD together with Svobodní, Trikolora and PRO would reach 10.5 per cent. The figures for these groupings have remained largely stable; changes compared with June are no more than one percentage point.
Gains for the Pirates and “Stačilo!”
The Pirates would currently obtain 9.5 per cent, an increase of two points. “Stačilo!” would reach six per cent in August, up by 1.5 points compared with June.
The Motoristé sobě party of MEP Filip Turek would also clear the hurdle with 5.5 per cent, thus securing seats in the Chamber of Deputies.
The 2025 parliamentary elections in the Czech Republic will, as is tradition, take place over two days, on 3 and 4 October.
