Prague’s Vinohrady comes alive mid September again, as the streets of Americká and Záhřebská host Zažít Americkou jinak – a full day of music, dance, food and community spirit. Admission is free.
On Saturday, 13 September, from 10:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., the streets of Americká and Záhřebská in Prague’s Vinohrady will once again be transformed into a vibrant promenade filled with music, dance, theatre, workshops, children’s activities and delicious food. Enjoy another year of this lively street festival with friends, family and neighbours, and discover the city from a fresh perspective. As always, admission is free.
Five stages will host artists, musicians and DJs from both the Czech Republic and abroad throughout the day. On the main stage, La Calle Mexicana, audiences can look forward to mariachi performed by Prague’s first original Mexican band, Mariachi Azteca de Praga, live cumbia from Cumbia Cooperativa, and sets by DJ Gadjo. There will also be a dance workshop, an antigravity yoga demonstration and a drummers’ parade. Together with the Mexican and Latin American community, the festival will once again feature the official celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day proclamation, El Grito, complete with a specially made piñata for the occasion.

At the fountain on the corner of Americká and Záhřebská, the Burza #4 stage will present a line-up of DJs throughout the day. On the Apelace 21 stage at Záhřebská 21, jazz will mix with house sets, while visitors can slow down at the Soundset stage on the corner of Americká and Uruguayská. This year, for the first time, part of the programme will also take place on the Prague Beer Museum Stage.
Art and Community
Local businesses and associations will once again be part of the festival. As every year, the library on Záhřebská Street will prepare plenty of competitions and fun activities for children. Just a few steps from its stage, the independent theatre Divadlo D21 will set up its own booth. Visitors will also see a sculpture by Mexican artists created to mark the celebration of Mexico’s Independence Day, along with other artistic installations across the streets.

“Experience Americká Differently is a festival of flavours, sounds and colours. It proves that diversity is our greatest strength. Here, people share their stories and together create an atmosphere that connects generations and cultures. We started as a small neighbourhood event, and today we welcome hundreds of people from all over the world. Still, we strive to make everyone feel at home here,” says the main organiser, Omri Goz.
Throughout the day, visitors will be able to enjoy delicacies from Mexican, Latin American and international cuisines. Try popular street food or stop by one of the local establishments. The event will also feature the MINT Market, where you can shop for designer pieces from local creators as well as original products from Latin America.

The festival area will be closed to car traffic and parking for the duration of the event. The festival takes place under the patronage of the Prague 2 district.
