In mid-September 2025, three Czech banks, Česká spořitelna, ČSOB and Raiffeisenbank introduced the new service “Vklad na kartu”. For the first time, customers can deposit cash nationwide directly into accounts via ATMs of other banks.
The service was developed in cooperation with the card networks Mastercard and Visa and with the support of the Czech Banking Association (ČBA). “Vklad na kartu” allows customers to deposit cash into an account easily – even via ATMs of other banks.
Since early June, the banks had already tested the service in a pilot phase. Following its official launch, “Vklad na kartu” is now available at more than a thousand deposit ATMs nationwide. The new service significantly increases convenience for customers and makes use of existing banking infrastructure, without the need to install new devices.
The service is available to both private and business customers and works in a similar way to deposits at one’s own bank’s ATM. Deposited funds are usually credited to the account linked to the card within 30 minutes – whether it is a debit or credit card. Virtual or digitalised Mastercard cards on mobile devices can also be used; Visa card users are expected to follow in the coming months. ATMs offering the service are marked with a special pictogram.
Deposits at one’s own bank’s ATMs are free of charge, while partner bank ATMs may charge fees similar to those for cash withdrawals at other banks.
During the pilot phase, the banks primarily tested their cooperation with each other. Without heavily promoting the new service, more than 3,000 customers already used the deposit option. The average deposit amount ranged between 11,000 and 15,000 korunas.
The launch of “Vklad na kartu” responds to the growing demand for cash deposits. All three banks have recorded significant increases in the use of deposit ATMs in recent years.
Česká spořitelna currently operates 1,446 ATMs, 453 of which accept deposits. ČSOB has 1,017 ATMs, 364 of which allow deposits. Raiffeisenbank has 195 ATMs, 189 of which accept cash deposits.
