Tram Track Renovation Completed: U Výstaviště Section Back in Service from 1 October

The tram lines 1, 6, 14, 17, 25 and 93, which have been running on diversion routes since the end of January, will now return to their usual route

The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has completed the renovation of the tram line at U Výstaviště ahead of schedule. Trams will resume service on the night of 1 October 2025 – a full ten days earlier than originally planned.

Thanks to close coordination between several city companies, regular service between Výstaviště and Nádraží Holešovice can be resumed on the night from 30 September to 1 October 2025 – ten days earlier than intended. The tram lines 1, 6, 14, 17, 25 and 93, which have been on diversion routes since the end of January, will therefore return to their usual route.

The track renovation was part of the extensive project “Rekonstrukce ulice U Výstaviště”, involving several city companies. In addition to the tram tracks, utility lines, carriageways and pavements were renewed. New road drains and lighting were also installed, and green spaces were upgraded.

Work began on 27 January 2025 with the removal of the road surface. Shortly afterwards, the dismantling of the tram line between the Výstaviště loop and the ramp to the railway tunnel at the Za Elektrárnou/Bubenská junction began. In the following months, work focused primarily on water and sewage networks. In July, the reconstruction of the tram tracks began. The line was given a straight profile – the previously S-shaped tracks in the area of the Výstaviště stop are now a thing of the past.

After the tram service resumes, the Technical Administration of Roads of the Capital City of Prague (TSK) will carry out remaining works on carriageways, pavements and green spaces.
