Václav Havel Airport Prague is making travelling more convenient from October 2025: at Terminal 2, passengers are allowed to carry significantly more liquids in their hand luggage.
From 1 October, travellers departing from Terminal 2 are, in addition to the standard bag of liquids (up to 100 ml per container), permitted to carry an extra quantity of liquids of up to two litres per person – including cosmetics, foodstuffs, or beverages.
“Current passenger satisfaction shows that comfort has increased since the introduction of CT X-ray machines, as electronics and liquids no longer need to be removed separately from hand luggage,” explains Martin Kučera, Board Member of Prague Airport.
Overview of the New Rules
- Terminal 1 (non-Schengen travel): No changes. Liquids over 100 ml remain prohibited; only one bag of containers up to 100 ml is allowed.
- Terminal 2 (Schengen travel): Passengers may now carry an additional liquid over 100 ml, up to a total volume of 2 litres per person, plus one standard bag of liquids up to 100 ml. At CT X-ray checks, electronics and liquids no longer need to be removed from hand luggage.
Why do the rules differ between terminals?
The increased liquid allowance is possible thanks to the new CT X-ray technology, which improves both the safety and efficiency of security checks. Terminal 1 does not yet have this technology. As part of the planned modernisation of the airport, a central security checkpoint modelled on Terminal 2 is scheduled to be built there.
