A festival for young and old: This weekend, the Břevnovské posvícení Festival celebrates its 30th anniversary. Music, regional specialities and hands-on activities for children make the jubilee a special experience for the whole family.
From 11 to 13 October, Prague’s Břevnov district will host the 30th Břevnovské posvícení Festival – an anniversary offering visitors a traditional atmosphere, craftsmanship and a varied music programme.
On Friday afternoon, most stalls and fairground attractions open. From 5 pm, the stage programme begins with live music for younger guests.

The main festival begins on Saturday, 11 October, at 10 am. Numerous stalls will offer Czech specialities – from roasted ribs, cheese and sausage delicacies to potato pancakes, burgers and shashlik, as well as sweet pancakes. Microbreweries, winemakers and stalls serving mead and burčák (young wine) provide a wide selection of drinks.
A particular highlight is the historical crafts and farmers’ zone, where traditional Czech crafts are showcased. Children can take part and make small souvenirs themselves.

On the stage, a colourful music programme will be offered on both festival days – with bands and artists of various styles for all ages. On Saturday evening, a large fireworks display is planned from 7 pm as the festival’s climax.
Programme Highlights:
- Friday: From 5 pm, live music for young visitors
- Saturday: Performances by Crazy Dogs, Laura a její tygři and Flám, among others
- Sunday: Music with Harry Band, Bolesti, Odysea and Strahov

Admission to the entire festival site is free. Only a few performers will – as in the old days – collect voluntary donations with a hat. Further information about the event can be found on the Facebook event page.
During the festival, selected areas of Břevnov Monastery (Břevnovský klášter) are also open to visitors.
