The third edition of the Central European Rally was launched with a spectacular parade through Prague. The Czech capital thus remains part of the twelfth round of the FIA World Rally Championship this year. The prologue was officially opened by the President of the Czech Republic, Petr Pavel.
On Sunday, Prague celebrated the atmospheric prologue to the Central European Rally – but from today, things are getting serious: after the WRC stars drove in a celebrated convoy through the Czech capital, they have now set up camp in the service park in Passau. From there, they are now heading out to reconnoitre the 300 competitive kilometres, on which, from Thursday onwards, the sporting decisions will be made over a total of 18 stages in Germany, the Czech Republic and Austria.
There is no shortage of excitement: championship leader Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) recently extended his lead in the drivers’ standings with a victory in Chile and, with three rounds remaining, has an excellent chance of securing the world title. And at the Central European Rally, the Frenchman is likely to feel almost at home, as he has a strong personal connection to the rally region and occasionally refers to himself as a “Bavarian by choice.” However, his teammates Elfyn Evans and the Toyota drivers Kalle Rovanperä, Ott Tänak and Thierry Neuville could still pose a serious challenge – but to do so, they’ll have to keep Ogier behind them!
And that’s not all visitors can look forward to, as the twelfth round of the WRC promises a full programme, with top-level competition across all vehicle classes and an extensive supporting programme. A wide range of fan activities in the region and in the Passau service park will make the event a true celebration for visitors. Those wanting to experience the action up close will find around three dozen spectator zones offering excellent facilities – from clear signage and ample parking to catering, sanitary facilities and informative live commentary.

Tickets for all categories and days are still available. The ticket shop, along with comprehensive visitor information including entry lists, timetables, navigation aids and links to key information sources, can be found on the official website: www.centraleuropeanrally.eu.
