Czech Republic to Receive Its First Ever MICHELIN Guide: A New Era for the Country’s Fine Dining Scene

The first independent MICHELIN Guide for the Czech Republic is set to be unveiled in December 2025

For the first time, MICHELIN’s anonymous inspectors are travelling across the whole of the Czech Republic to evaluate the country’s best restaurants. Their mission: to create the first standalone MICHELIN Guide for the Czech Republic, which will be presented in December 2025. This marks the beginning of a new chapter for the country’s fine dining scene.

For the first time in history, an independent MICHELIN Guide is being created to cover not only Prague but the entire Czech Republic. The anonymous inspectors from the renowned organisation are travelling throughout the country this year to discover the finest culinary experiences – from the capital to the most remote regions. The official presentation of the new guide will take place on 11 December 2025 in Mariánské Lázně (Marienbad).

Czech Republic Joins Europe’s Culinary Elite

With the launch of the new MICHELIN Guide, the Czech Republic joins those European countries that have their own edition – alongside France, Italy, Spain and Austria. The guide will highlight not only fine dining restaurants but also traditional establishments that focus on regional ingredients and authentic Czech cuisine.

“The cooperation with the MICHELIN Guide opens a new chapter in building the image of the Czech Republic as a destination that stands out not only for its cultural monuments, natural beauty and leisure opportunities, but also for its excellent gastronomy,” explains František Reismüller, Director of CzechTourism. “The MICHELIN distinction is recognised worldwide as a symbol of culinary excellence and will raise international awareness of our cuisine. It will also attract discerning visitors who appreciate quality, innovation and regional produce.”

    Quality, Passion and Authenticity

As always, MICHELIN’s anonymous inspectors assess restaurants according to strict international criteria. They award one, two or three MICHELIN stars, as well as the Bib Gourmand label for establishments offering outstanding cuisine at reasonable prices. The Green MICHELIN Star also honours chefs who are redefining gastronomy through sustainable and innovative approaches.

Gastro-tourism is a growing global trend, and the Czech Republic has much to offer: a rich and diverse cuisine that combines traditional flavours with international influences. The country’s culinary offerings include hearty dishes made from regional ingredients – from game and freshwater fish to seasonal vegetables and forest fruits – accompanied by legendary Czech beer and high-quality wines from Moravia and Bohemia.

The cooperation between the Czech Republic and the MICHELIN Guide is planned for three years. Each year, a digital edition featuring the best Czech restaurants will be published on the official website guide.michelin.com/cz/en.

The MICHELIN Guide remains a trusted source for travellers seeking exceptional culinary experiences. First published at the turn of the 20th century in France, it was originally created to promote motoring. Even today, MICHELIN inspectors around the world apply the same selection criteria. MICHELIN is headquartered in Clermont-Ferrand, France, operates in 175 countries, and employs 129,800 people worldwide.
