Restrictions for Rail Passengers Between Prague and Dresden Until December

The reason is extensive modernisation work on the heavily used route through the Upper Elbe Valley

Between Prague and Dresden, rail passengers will have to expect restrictions from the end of October until December. The reason is extensive modernisation work on the heavily used route through the Upper Elbe Valley. Replacement buses will ensure connections.

The modernisation of the heavily used railway line between Dresden and Prague through the Upper Elbe Valley will enter the next construction phase at the end of October: During the first closure from 26 October to 8 November, a crossover will be installed between Bad Schandau and Schöna stations to allow trains to be redirected from one track to another.

Until the end of the year, specialists will continue work on track systems, cable routes, and overhead lines for the completion of the Bad Schandau East freight yard. In addition, DB will use the closures for numerous other maintenance measures between Bad Schandau and the Czech border.

The works will also cause restrictions for passengers in both local and long-distance services. The EC connection Berlin–Dresden–Prague will operate only on the Berlin–Dresden and Děčín–Prague sections. As a result, the stop at Bad Schandau will be cancelled. Between Dresden and Ústí nad Labem, replacement buses will be provided for passengers. They will connect with EC trains to and from Berlin as well as in/out of Prague.

During the closures, buses will be used as rail replacement services: from 26 October to 8 November and from 13 to 16 November. The final works will take place between 1 and 10 December. Passengers are asked to check digital travel information at www.bahn.de
and/or cd.cz before starting their journey.
