Prague Airport is investing in good neighbourly relations. Through various grant programmes, a total of CZK 34 million was channelled in 2025 into local projects – ranging from educational and cultural initiatives to environmental and wildlife protection measures.
For years, Prague Airport has seen itself as a responsible and active neighbour. Through transparent funding schemes, it supports meaningful projects in the municipalities surrounding the airport area. In 2025, the company allocated CZK 34 million in total – including funds for municipalities particularly affected by the summer closure of the main runway.
Altogether, 147 applications meeting the programme’s criteria were submitted. Under the “Dobré sousedství” (Good Neighbourhood) grant scheme, 87 projects were selected this year, receiving a total of CZK 15 million in support.
Funded projects included, among others, the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roof of a municipal kindergarten, the renovation of an inline skating track, the construction of a covered rest area for tourists, and an autumn folklore festival.

“We are pleased that, once again, we were able to support many of our neighbours through interesting projects. We consider it natural to invest in regions directly affected by airport operations,” said Jiří Kraus, Deputy Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport. “Compared to previous years, the amount was slightly lower this time, as we had already donated CZK 10 million during the summer to municipalities impacted by the closure of the main runway.”
Since its launch in 2007 – with a temporary pause during the pandemic – the “Dobré sousedství” programme has supported almost 800 projects with a total value exceeding CZK 180 million. The funded initiatives span culture, education, youth protection, sport, and nature and animal conservation. Eligible applicants include municipalities and districts of Prague affected by the operations of Václav Havel Airport, as well as non-profit organisations in these areas.
Another focus of the airport’s efforts is environmental protection. The “Biodiverzita” (Biodiversity) fund, launched in 2022, has become a key part of the company’s sustainability strategy. This year, eleven projects received nearly CZK 3 million in support – including the restoration of an orchard near the Ruzyně cemetery, the stabilisation of trees along the Kopaninský stream to prevent soil erosion, and the creation of habitats for insects.
Some projects also focus on environmental education – such as programmes for children and students designed to teach nature-related topics through practical experience.
