Prague will host tonight a special gala evening: at the Divadlo na Vinohradech, His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Václav Havel will take centre stage. The evening “Dalai Lama 90, Havel 89” celebrates culture, friendship and values such as freedom and compassion.

Prague is set to witness a remarkable event tonight: the Gala Evening Dalai Lama 90, Havel 89, celebrating two global figures whose friendship shaped modern history – His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and Václav Havel.

Hollywood icon and long-time Tibet supporter Richard Gere will not be attending in person, but he sends an exclusive video message. In it, he thanks President Petr Pavel, recalls the deep bond between Havel and the Dalai Lama, and expresses gratitude to the Czech Republic for its enduring support of the Tibetan people. Gere also wishes the Czech audience a wonderful gala evening tonight at the Vinohrady Theatre.
