Away from the hectic city bustle, Holešovická Tržnice in Prague is once again inviting visitors to a relaxed Advent market this year. Visitors can expect atmospheric stalls, culinary specialities, and a wide range of activities for both children and adults.
In Prague, visitors can enjoy Advent this year without hurry or crowds. Holešovická Tržnice is hosting its traditional Advent market from 27 November to 22 December, offering a relaxed atmosphere, the Ježíškova Post for children, culinary specialities in Hall 22, as well as fresh Christmas carp.
In the heart of Holešovická Tržnice, alongside Hall 22, a festive Christmas market is emerging with around ten stalls offering original craft and gift items. The range will partly change during Advent, so visitors can continually discover something new – from design objects to products from charitable projects and selected books.
The market also has a lot to offer gastronomically: mulled wine and hot apple juice will warm visitors from the inside, and roasted chestnuts scent the air temptingly. The offer is complemented by food trucks serving seasonal specialities, hot drinks, and soups. A special day for meat lovers is the “Day of the Butchers” (Den řezníků), organised by the Ambiente Group, taking place on Sunday, 30 November.
For the youngest visitors, there is a popular activity trail (100 CZK per child) with ten stations where they can learn about old Bohemian Christmas traditions. In addition, an interactive Advent calendar kiosk provides daily surprises and stories, while the Ježíškova Post (50 CZK per stamp) allows children to send their wishes directly to the Christ Child – letters can also be delivered to their homes upon request.
Those who prefer relaxed shopping will find everything for the festive feast in Hall 22: fresh ingredients from Czech farmers, including carp, vegetables, nuts, and baking supplies. This year, the hall will be decorated in a festive style.
The Advent markets at Holešovická Tržnice represent Christmas without excessive commercialisation. Here, visitors experience a relaxed pace, glowing Advent calendars, joyful children, and the cosy atmosphere of a genuine Christmas market. Whether for gifts with a story or simply meeting friends over mulled wine, the Tržnice offers something for everyone away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre.
