Line C of the metro will be closed this coming weekend between Nádraží Holešovice and Pražského povstání. The Prague Public Transport Company is replacing old relay signal boxes with modern electronic systems.
The Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) is continuing the modernisation of signalling technology on Line C over the weekend. At the stations I. P. Pavlova, Muzeum, and Hlavní nádraží, old relay signal boxes are being replaced with modern electronic systems. The work is part of a large-scale project through which DPP is gradually renewing the old signalling systems along the Háje – Vltavská section.
The technology in many areas of Line C dates back to 1974 and no longer meets the requirements of future automated operation. For this reason, the renewal has been carried out in sections since spring 2024. After the modernisation of the line sections Háje – Roztyly and Kačerov – Vyšehrad, the central city section is now next. Next year, the work between I. P. Pavlova and Hlavní nádraží is expected to be completed. Subsequently, the sections Florenc – Vltavská and the Kačerov depot will be addressed. DPP plans full completion by 2027.
Restricted Service and Replacement Transport
Due to the construction work, Line C will be suspended in both directions on Saturday, 22, and Sunday, 23 November 2025, between Nádraží Holešovice and Pražského povstání. During the closure, the metro will operate only on the sections Háje – Pražského povstání and Letňany – Nádraží Holešovice.
For passengers, DPP is operating a daytime replacement service: Bus line XC connects Nádraží Holešovice via Vltavská, Florenc, Hlavní nádraží, Muzeum, and I. P. Pavlova to Vyšehrad and Pražského povstání.
