First in the Czech Republic: Five Guys Opens Monday at Shopping Centre Máj in Prague

Craving a real burger and fries? The American fast-food chain is opening its first branch in the Czech Republic on Monday

Five Guys is finally opening in Prague. Originally scheduled to open in 2024, from Monday locals can now try American diner-style burgers, hot dogs, hand-cut fries, and the famous milkshakes — all made from fresh ingredients.

Since 1986, the American fast-food restaurant has expanded to nearly 2,000 locations worldwide, and Prague is now one of them. According to the company, Five Guys focuses on consistent daily quality and uses only fresh ingredients. The chain also states that its kitchens operate without freezers, relying solely on fresh produce.

Compared to other burger restaurants, Five Guys brings an authentic, customisable concept to Prague. Menu options include hamburgers, cheeseburgers and smaller-size burgers. Customers can also choose from 23 different free toppings. Prices start at 175 CZK for smaller portions, while larger orders cost around 300 CZK, which is slightly higher compared to other fast-food chains.

For those with a sweet tooth, Five Guys offers milkshakes starting with a hand-spun vanilla base. As with the burgers, customers can customise their milkshake with a range of free mix-ins and add whipped cream on top. Ready for flavours like Peanut Butter, Salted Caramel or even Bacon? Five Guys has it!

    Food Safety and Transparency

Food quality has become a hot topic for locals in recent months, after incidents involving a different American fast-food chain in the Czech Republic, where meat past its use-by date was reportedly sold. As a result, many customers may now be more cautious when it comes to fast food.

At Five Guys, however, such concerns may be eased by the open-kitchen concept. Every order is prepared right in front of customers, giving them a clear view of how their meal is made. As Martin Levec, Chief Operating Officer of Five Guys in the Czech Republic, stated to Novinky.cz, “We work exclusively with approved suppliers who deliver meat, vegetables, and potatoes to us every morning at their highest quality. We believe this will help the iconic brand quickly win the hearts of Czech burger fans.” This level of visibility may help the newly opened restaurant build trust with customers.
