David Byrne Brings his ‘Who Is The Sky?’ Tour to Prague’s O2 Universum in June

The musician ranks among modern music’s most distinctive voices

David Byrne, legendary Talking Heads frontman and award-winning composer, brings his Who Is The Sky? tour to Prague’s O2 Universum in June next year. The concert will showcase his first studio album since American Utopia, blending Byrne’s unique vision with the orchestral sound of New York’s Ghost Train Orchestra.

David Byrne, founding member of Talking Heads, Grammy, Oscar, and Golden Globe winner, and one of modern music’s most original voices, is set to present his new album Who Is The Sky? in Prague. This marks his first studio release since the American Utopia era. Byrne will take to the stage at the O2 Universum on 17 June 2026, in a concert that blends his singular artistic vision with the intimate orchestral sound of New York’s Ghost Train Orchestra.

The roots of Who Is The Sky? trace back to 2023, following the conclusion of Byrne’s acclaimed American Utopia period — an era encompassing an album, a worldwide tour, a Broadway production, and a Spike Lee–directed film. During a rare creative pause, Byrne returned to drawing, cooking, and gathering musical fragments that gradually evolved into new songs. Like many, he found himself reflecting on purpose, creativity, and the role of art in uncertain times, reflections that now form the emotional core of the album.

This project represents Byrne’s first collaboration with Grammy-winning producer Kid Harpoon (known for his work with Harry Styles and Miley Cyrus) and the 15-piece Ghost Train Orchestra, whose distinctive combination of strings, winds, brass, and percussion adds fresh emotional depth to Byrne’s songwriting. Guest appearances include Paramore’s Hayley Williams, long-time collaborator St. Vincent, and The Smile’s drummer Tom Skinner. The result is a collection of songs that balances experimental freedom with melodic clarity, interweaving narrative vignettes, humour, tenderness, and Byrne’s trademark curiosity.

Who Is The Sky? explores themes of connection, imagination, love, and the unusual poetry of everyday life. Byrne describes the album as an opportunity to move beyond the self and enter a new creative realm, where storytelling, rhythm, and orchestration merge. On stage, this vision transforms into an immersive experience, showcasing both the album’s intimacy and its sweeping, cinematic scale.

The Who Is The Sky? tour demonstrates Byrne’s ongoing commitment to redefining the live music experience, echoing the innovation of his past productions while forging a fresh artistic path. Audiences can expect selections from the new album alongside highlights from Byrne’s extensive catalogue, delivered with renewed energy and a distinctive sound shaped by his collaborators.

Tickets for the concert on 17 June 2026 at Prague’s O2 Universum are available from 1,600 CZK (plus booking fees). Official ticket sales begin on 12 December 2025 at 10:00 through Ticketmaster and Ticketportal.
