In 2025, the Czech Republic once again ranks among the safest countries worldwide, as confirmed by two international assessments. In terms of security and social stability, the nation remains firmly within the global leading group.
The Czech Republic has reaffirmed its outstanding standing among the world’s safest states. In the latest Travel Safety Index 2025, the country takes 6th place, while the highly regarded Global Peace Index 2025 ranks it 11th out of 163 evaluated nations. At a time when many destinations are facing growing risks and geopolitical uncertainty, the Czech Republic continues to epitomise stability, calm and reliability — for tourists, residents and international businesses alike.
Two Global Rankings, One Clear Result
The Travel Safety Index 2025 assesses countries across 35 indicators, including crime rates, political stability, healthcare quality and natural disaster risks. In this comprehensive comparison, the Czech Republic achieves an impressive 6th place among 180 countries.
A similarly positive picture emerges from the Global Peace Index 2025, published annually by the Australian-based Institute for Economics and Peace. This ranking uses a globally recognised methodology based on 23 security- and society-related indicators across three categories. This year, the Czech Republic improves its position to 11th place.
“The latest international rankings clearly show that the Czech Republic is among the safest and most stable destinations in the world,” says František Reismüller, Director of CzechTourism. “For us, this also confirms our strategic direction: from 2026 to 2030, safety and sustainability will go hand in hand with economic benefits. Our goal is to present the country as a destination where tourists, expats and investors feel equally secure while contributing added value to the regions and the economy.”
Stability as a Competitive Advantage
The Czech Republic has enjoyed years of low crime, dependable healthcare services, strong state institutions and a generally resilient society. While other regions increasingly grapple with security challenges, the environment here remains reliable and ranks among the most stable in Europe.
In the Travel Safety Index, only Iceland, Singapore, Denmark, Austria and Switzerland rank ahead of the Czech Republic — a clear sign that the country belongs to the global top tier and continues to strengthen its leadership position in Central Europe.
This high level of security is not only a major competitive advantage for tourism. It also makes the country highly attractive for long-term stays by skilled professionals and for investors. Expats regularly rate the Czech Republic as one of the most comfortable places to live, and international travel platforms frequently recommend it, especially for families.
The country’s reputation as a safe travel destination plays a significant role in the satisfaction of international visitors. According to CzechTourism, the sense of safety is among the most frequently cited reasons for positive travel experiences. Manageable infrastructure, reliable services and low crime further reinforce visitors’ confidence.
