Google’s Trends review for 2025 offers insight into what most occupied people in the Czech Republic over the past year. A look at the most searched-for terms of the year often reveals more than opinion polls.
The search engine provider Google has published its annual overview of the most popular search terms of the year. Despite AI-generated summaries and direct answers, traditional web search continues to hold its ground — particularly when it comes to current topics, events and trends. Google also notes a clear shift in search behaviour: users are increasingly formulating their queries in a conversational way.
Thanks to new AI features in Google Search, people are asking questions more and more as if they were talking to a friend. This year, we recorded more searches beginning with ‘What is … about?’ than ever before.
The annual review shows that, alongside political issues, people in the Czech Republic were also strongly interested in entertainment and pop culture. Among the most frequently searched topics were the Netflix series Squid Game (Czech title Hra na oliheň), the slang term “skibidi”, the character Labubu, and the reality show The Bachelor.
In the category of Czech public figures, political names dominated the rankings. At the top were Filip Turek, Eva Decroix and Jindřich Rajchl. Outside politics, Jan Solfronk also attracted attention as a participant in the first Czech season of The Bachelor, in which 18 female contestants competed for his affection.
Internationally, Google recorded the largest increase in searches in the Czech Republic for the singer Dua Lipa — sparked by her concert in Prague and a surprise duet with Ewa Farna.
The sportswear brand Reebok also found itself in the spotlight, albeit unintentionally, after prices in its online shop were mistakenly displayed in euros instead of Czech crowns, much to the delight of bargain hunters.
In the streaming sector, the launch of Oneplay in particular shaped the year. The new platform brings together content from Voyo and O2 TV.
Overall, 2025 proved to be a strong year for fans of gaming as well as film and television entertainment. The game Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 attracted international attention, with its success even drawing additional tourists to the Czech Republic. The link between gaming and cinema was also evident in the strong interest in the Minecraft film.
