In Prague, the first electric buses from type SOR ENS 12 are entering regular service. The new buses expand the Prague Public Transport Company’s (DPP) emissions-free fleet and replace older diesel buses on several routes.
From today, Thursday, 18 December 2025, the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) is deploying the new SOR ENS 12 electric buses in regular service for the first time. The first four vehicles will run on Route 213. The remaining buses from the initial order of 18 vehicles will be gradually integrated into service over the coming weeks. In the future, the new electric buses will operate on Routes 154, 159, 185, 213, and occasionally on 126, 133, 173, and 175; at weekends, Routes 124 and 207 will also be served.
The acquisition of up to 100 SOR ENS 12 electric buses with Škoda Electric propulsion is co-financed with 800 million Czech crowns from the European Union Modernisation Fund under the TRANSGov programme of the Czech Ministry of the Environment.

Last year, the transport company ordered the first 18 vehicles of this series, scheduled for delivery in autumn this year. All 18 buses are now stationed in Prague depots: twelve in Vršovice, four in Klíčov, and two in Hostivař.
The new electric buses replace the oldest diesel buses in the DPP fleet, which are being retired, and are part of the modernisation of the bus fleet. By adding emissions-free vehicles, the DPP is gradually meeting the commitments of Prague’s climate plan as well as national requirements for reducing transport emissions.
The buses are equipped with modern Škoda Electric drive technology, which reduces energy consumption. The batteries provide a range of up to 100 kilometres per charge. The delivery includes an energy management system for monitoring range, controlling charging, and fire alerts. Newly introduced to the fleet are second sliding doors, facilitating boarding with prams or wheelchairs. Another highlight is the use of a heat pump for heating and cooling, helping to save electricity.
118 New Buses in 2026
Next year, as part of the renewal of its fleet, the transport company has ordered a total of 118 new vehicles, of which 74 (almost 63%) are fully or partially emissions-free. These include a further 14 SOR ENS 12 electric buses, 30 Bozankaya SNG 12T trolleybuses (delivery in February and April 2026), and 30 Iveco Urbanway Hybrid 18M articulated hybrid buses. In addition, 40 new Iveco Streetway 18M diesel buses and four three-axle Iveco Crossway LE 14.5M diesel buses for the Airport Express route are expected.
