Next year, the Czech Republic will continue expanding its motorway network. Several new sections are intended to relieve traffic and improve regional connections. At the same time, motorway vignette prices will rise slightly from January.
The Czech motorway authority, Ředitelství silnic a dálnic (ŘSD), plans to open a total of 39.2 kilometres of new motorway sections to traffic next year. Most of the openings are scheduled for the fourth quarter. Exceptions include the 3.5-kilometre section of the D3 between Nažidla and Dolní Dvořiště, as well as a part of the D35 between Ostrov and the Homole Tunnel, which are expected to open in the summer.
In addition, ŘSD intends to begin construction of 111.4 kilometres of motorway in 2026, according to information from the authority. This year, around 67 kilometres were opened in the Czech Republic.
The largest section to be opened will be on the D35 motorway. Here, 13.2 kilometres are to be completed, specifically the sections between Ostrov and Vysoké Mýto, including the Homole Tunnel, as well as the Sadová – Plotiště section. On the D3, ŘSD also plans to open the Kaplice nádraží – Nažidla section.
On the D49, 7.5 kilometres of the second construction phase between Hulín and Fryšták are to be opened to traffic. The D6 will be extended by part of the Petrohrad – Lubenec section. Further planned openings concern a section of the D48 near Palačov, as well as around three kilometres of the D11 between Trutnov and the Polish border.
Construction on sections originally scheduled for this year — Jaroměř – Trutnov (D11) and Úlibice – Hořice (D35) — has been postponed due to unresolved financing issues and is now expected to begin next year. Including these projects, ŘSD plans to start a total of 26 motorway construction sites in 2026, covering a combined length of 111.4 kilometres.
