From 5 January 2026, Prague will operate a slightly reduced public transport service. The reason is the traditionally lower demand at the beginning of the year. The Prague Metro is this time exempt from the restrictions.
After the holidays, a slightly reduced public transport service will apply in Prague from 5 January to 1 March 2026. The lower demand is around 15 % below the autumn level – the period for which the regular timetables are actually designed.
The Prague Metro is exempt from the restrictions this time. The service frequency remains at the level of last autumn.

Prague Trams
For trams, intervals during weekday peak hours will be extended. In the morning and afternoon, there will now be a ten-minute service instead of eight minutes. On the main lines 9, 17, and 22, the peak intervals will rise from four to five minutes.
Prague City Buses
For city buses, the extended intervals mainly affect the main lines with short intervals – a total of 56 bus lines – as well as trolleybus line 58. The typical morning six-minute interval will be extended to 7.5 minutes, and the afternoon interval from 7.5 to ten minutes. On lines 58, 107, 135, 136, 143, 177, and 213, intervals in the morning will also be slightly extended. On weekends, only line 125 is affected. Lines with already longer intervals remain unchanged.
