Prague Zoo is today inviting visitors to celebrate the second birthday of the gorilla infant Mobi. Guests can experience Mobi up close and enjoy a varied programme focused on the gorillas.
Today, Saturday 3 January, Prague Zoo celebrates the second birthday of Mobi – the first gorilla baby born at the Rezervace Dja. Visitors can look forward to a varied programme – all for an entry fee of just 100 CZK.
Mobi was born on 2 January 2024 as the first offspring of the gorilla Duni. Her name was chosen by children from the Cameroonian town of Somalomo, where zoo educators have, for over a decade, been raising awareness among local children about the uniqueness of their native nature as part of the conservation project “Toulavý autobus”. In the local Badjoué language, Mobi means “heir”.
Prague Zoo has prepared an extensive programme for the birthday:
- 10:00 – Presentation of an enrichment item to the gorillas at Rezervace Dja
- 11:00, 12:00, 13:00 and 14:00 – Commentated encounters with the gorillas
- 15:00 – Commentated gorilla feeding
- 10:00–16:00 – Information and activity stations in the African House of Rezervace Dja
Visitors also have the opportunity to create greetings and small gifts for Mobi. “We are delighted to give visitors an insight into the lives of our gorillas, while also highlighting the importance of species conservation,” says a zoo spokesperson.
The event is one of the last chances to visit Prague Zoo at the symbolic entry price of 100 CZK, before the regular ticket prices resume on Monday. For animal lovers and families, the day promises an unforgettable experience centred around the young gorillas.
