According to current information, the disruption is expected to be resolved by midnight tonight
A fault on a district heating pipe in Prague 4 on Tuesday led to a widespread outage of heating and hot water. Around 11,000 households are affected. Technicians are working to repair the damage.
Since this morning, around 11,000 households in Prague 4 have been without heating and hot water due to a fault on a district heating pipe. The affected districts are Michle, Krč, Pankrác, Nusle and Podolí, the Prague 4 City Hall stated on its website. Technicians are currently working to rectify the fault. The situation is particularly problematic as freezing temperatures prevail in Prague – as in large parts of the Czech Republic.
According to Prague 4, damage to the pipe was detected in Pekárenská Street at the junction with Psárská and Ohradní Streets in Michle. Pražská teplárenská reported that the problem on the district heating pipe was discovered in the early hours of the morning. Initially, the City Hall had also named the Spořilov district as affected, but according to Pražská teplárenská this is not the case.
“The technicians of Pražská teplárenská are working intensively to eliminate the fault and restore supply as quickly as possible,” stated Maďar. According to current information, the disruption should be resolved by midnight tonight.
With around 135,700 inhabitants, Prague 4 is the largest district of the Czech capital.
