Prague Castle looks back on an exceptionally successful year. With more than 2.7 million paying visitors, a new record was set in 2025. The revenue is being used to support both the maintenance of the castle and the development of new public offerings.

Prague Castle recorded a new visitor record last year. More than 2.7 million people took part in one of the offered tours – more than ever before. The previous high was in 2019, with just under 2.6 million visitors. As in previous years, the vast majority of paying guests were tourists. In total, more than nine million people passed through the castle grounds, including the gardens.

The months with the highest visitor numbers were August, October, and July. Interest was also particularly strong in the Advent programme in December: around 60,000 people took the opportunity to visit the otherwise inaccessible Chapel of the Holy Cross (Kaple svatého Kříže) and the Mocker Houses (Mockerovy domy). The open days and the exhibition of the Bohemian Crown Jewels traditionally attracted numerous visitors as well. All of these formats are planned to take place again this year – supplemented by several innovations.

According to the castle administration, tourism revenue flows directly into the preservation of the historic site and projects that benefit the public. These include, among others, the renovation of the public park Chotkovy sady, the restoration of Queen Anne’s Summer Palace (Letohrádek královny Anny), as well as the Hartig Gardens, which are to be opened to visitors for the first time in spring. In addition, the yellow barriers previously used at the entrances have been removed and replaced with modern, retractable security bollards. In the coming years, a comprehensive renewal of the external lighting is also planned.

The cultural programme is also being expanded. At the end of January, the exhibition Gifts for the President from Near and Far II (Dary pro prezidenta z daleka i blízka II.) will open in the Rosenberg Palace (Rožmberský palác) with a new selection of exhibits. The transition from February to March will feature the exhibition Early Spring (Předjaří: Zahrada malých gest), which combines floral motifs with contemporary art. In addition, new dates for free lecture series on science, architecture, and literature have already been published on the Prague Castle website.
