Industrial production in the Czech Republic rises sharply in November
The largest contribution to the increase came from the automotive sector and the metalworking industry
Industrial output in the Czech Republic recorded a strong increase in November. According to the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ), production rose significantly both month on month and year on year, accompanied by an increase in new orders. Exports in particular provided positive momentum.
Industrial production in the Czech Republic grew markedly in November. According to data from the Czech Statistical Office (ČSÚ), industrial output rose by a real 5.7 per cent year on year and increased by 2.4 per cent compared with the previous month. The value of new orders also rose by 4.1 per cent year on year.
Growth was recorded across most industrial sectors in November. According to the statistical office, the increase was partly influenced by a lower comparison base. “The largest contribution to the growth came from the automotive sector and the metalworking industry,” said Radek Matějka, Director of the Department of Statistics for Industry, Construction and Energy at the ČSÚ. Additional positive impulses came from industry-related segments of vehicle production, including the manufacture of rubber and plastic products as well as electrical equipment. Increases were also recorded in the production of other vehicles and transport equipment and in basic metal production, including metallurgical and foundry activities. By contrast, mining — particularly coal mining — and the pharmaceutical industry had a dampening effect.
The value of new orders rose by 4.1 per cent year on year in November 2025. Foreign orders increased by 6.3 per cent, while domestic orders recorded only a marginal rise of 0.2 per cent. Compared with the previous month, however, the value of orders fell by 1.1 per cent. “Growth in new orders was driven primarily by the automotive industry, the manufacture of metal structures and metal products, and electrical equipment,” said Veronika Doležalová, Head of Industrial Statistics at the ČSÚ. Declines were recorded in the pharmaceutical, chemical, paper-processing and textile industries.
The average number of employees in industry fell by 1.3 per cent year on year in November 2025.
