Construction work on the new Dvorecký Bridge in Prague leads to restrictions in tram services

The work starts this weekend on the Podolí side and will then move to the Zlíchov side of the bridge

By PragueDaily

Today, work begins to connect the new Dvorecký Bridge to the Prague tram network. The measures will lead to longer interruptions in tram services in several sections on both sides of the Vltava.

Today, Saturday, 10 January 2026, construction work begins on the Podolí side to complete the connection of the Dvorecký Bridge to the Prague tram network. The work will last around nine days and end in the early hours of Monday, 19 January. During this period, the Prague Public Transport Company (DPP) will suspend tram services on the section Podolská vodárna – Libuš. On Sunday, 18 January, the closure will additionally extend to the section Výtoň – Podolská vodárna. As a replacement, DPP will operate bus lines X2, X17 and X92. Tram services in the affected area are scheduled to resume with the morning start of operations on 19 January 2026.

From Saturday, 24 January 2026, the construction work will move to the Zlíchov side of the bridge. Here too, around nine days of work are planned until the early hours of Monday, 2 February 2026. In parallel, the Railway Administration (Správa železnic) will implement another stage of the renovation of the railway bridge over Nádražní Street. During this period, tram services on the section Na Knížecí – Slivenec will be suspended.

To ensure accessibility, the DPP will operate the replacement bus line X12 between Sídliště Barrandov and Anděl during the day, running every two to three minutes during peak hours. At night, line X90 will be in operation. In addition, two temporary bus lines will be introduced: X104 (Klukovice – Slivenec) and X128 (Smíchovské nádraží – Hlubočepy). Tram services on the section Na Knížecí – Slivenec are scheduled to resume with the morning start of operations on 2 February 2026.

The DPP is also using the closures for maintenance work on the tracks in the affected sections. Planned measures include the replacement of worn track curves, points, and damaged sleepers. During the first construction phase, the Technical Administration of Prague Roads (TSK) will also carry out work on the Vyšehrad rock face.
