On Monday night and in the morning, temperatures fell below minus twelve degrees across large parts of the Czech Republic. During the day, snowfall from the west will change to freezing rain. Icy conditions are expected in many parts of the country from Monday evening onwards.
Meteorologists warn of accidents as well as significant disruptions to road traffic. Pedestrians should move with particular caution outdoors; older people or those with limited mobility are advised to avoid going outside where possible. Drivers should reduce their speed considerably and plan extra time for journeys to account for the increased risk of skidding.
