České dráhy are further expanding their range of quiet zones. In future, the modern ComfortJet trains will also feature designated quiet areas.

The Czech railway company České dráhy is expanding its offer of so-called “Tichý vůz” (quiet carriages). In future, the modern ComfortJet trains will also include designated quiet areas. This will increase the number of train services with a quiet carriage or compartment by around three dozen to just under 300. In addition to long-distance services such as Railjet and Pendolino, quiet compartments are also available on numerous regional routes.

From 1 February 2026, passengers will be able to use the quiet carriages in ComfortJet units for the first time. These areas are already marked accordingly in timetable information and carriage formations.

At present, ComfortJets operate on the international “Berliner” services to Berlin. From 1 May, their deployment will be extended to routes to Hamburg and Copenhagen. They will also be used on most Vindobona services to Vienna and Villach, as well as on the Hungaria service to Budapest.

The modern trainsets offer air-conditioned and pressure-sealed carriages for comfortable travel. Facilities include an on-board restaurant, areas for passengers with reduced mobility and for families with children – including a children’s cinema and spaces for prams. In addition, Wi-Fi, an on-board portal, power sockets and USB ports for charging electronic devices, as well as spaces for up to twelve bicycles, are available. Specially coated windows are also intended to improve mobile phone reception.

The introduction of the modern trains marks an important step towards improving long-distance rail services between the Czech Republic and Europe and will offer travellers a more comfortable travel experience.
