Prague Václav Havel Airport reported an impressive passenger increase of 8.5 % in 2025, approaching its historical record level with almost 17.8 million travellers.

In 2025, Prague Václav Havel Airport handled a total of 17,750,528 passengers – an increase of 8.5 % compared with the previous year. This brought the Prague hub close to its previous record level. At the same time, 19 new destinations were launched during the past year.

“2025 was not an easy year for the development of air connections, as several external factors affected operations that we, as an airport, cannot control,” said Jiří Pos, CEO of Prague Airport. “These include, among others, the persistently unstable geopolitical situation, delayed deliveries of new aircraft, and technical issues with some newly delivered planes. Despite these challenges, we were able to reach almost 17.8 million passengers, practically matching the operational record of 2019.”

Pos also emphasised that the number of flight movements decreased by 7 % compared with 2019; however, airlines are using larger aircraft and load factors are rising – a trend that simultaneously reduces environmental impact. In total, the airport recorded 140,545 take-offs and landings in 2025.

As part of its cooperation with airlines, the airport launched 19 new destinations, including major long-haul routes: Etihad Airways started a new line to Abu Dhabi, Air Arabia resumed regular flights to Sharjah after six years, and Air Canada introduced a seasonal connection to Toronto. A daily connection to Seoul was launched with Asiana Airlines, while Condor significantly increased its service to Frankfurt am Main. Over 70 existing routes received additional flights or extra seat capacity.

The most used connection in 2025 was London, with over 1.3 million passengers despite a slight decrease of 3 % compared with the previous year. Other top routes included Paris (730,000, +1 %), Amsterdam (657,000, +1 %), Istanbul (587,500, +23 %), and Frankfurt am Main (536,000, +22 %).

Viewed by country, the most popular connections were the United Kingdom (over 2.2 million passengers, +6 %), Italy (just under 1.9 million, −2 %), and Spain (almost 1.8 million, +9 %). In total, 84 airlines flew to 194 destinations from Prague in 2025. Ryanair, Smartwings, easyJet, Wizz Air, and Lufthansa carried the most passengers, with low-cost carriers accounting for 45 % of the total. The share of international passengers rose to 58.5 %.

For 2026, 195 destinations with 85 airlines have already been confirmed. Forecasts suggest that up to 18.9 million passengers could travel through Prague Airport. New connections in 2026 include, among others, American Airlines to Philadelphia, Eurowings to Ibiza, Brindisi, and Faro, AJet to Bodrum, as well as new routes from Wizz Air to Chișinău and easyJet to Newcastle.
