Prague is gaining a new intercontinental direct connection: from 1 August, STARLUX Airlines will operate nonstop flights from the Czech capital to Taipei. This will make Prague the first European destination served by the Taiwanese premium airline.
Prague is becoming the first European destination of the Taiwanese airline STARLUX Airlines. From 1 August, the carrier will launch a new nonstop long-haul service between the Czech capital and Taipei. Initially, three flights per week are planned, with the frequency increasing to four weekly services from October.
An Airbus A350-900 will be used, offering four travel classes – First, Business, Premium Economy and Economy – with a total capacity of 306 seats. Departures from Prague are scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, with an additional Monday flight added to the timetable from October.

“We are very pleased to welcome STARLUX Airlines as a new partner at our airport – especially as Prague is the airline’s first regularly served destination in Europe,” said Jiří Pos, Chairman of the Board of Prague Airport. The new connection is expected to further strengthen tourism between the Czech Republic and Taiwan. Estimates suggest that more than 95,000 passengers in both directions could use the route in the first year of operation.
In addition to the direct connection to Taipei, travellers also benefit from numerous onward connections within Asia. Via its hub in Taiwan, STARLUX Airlines offers connecting flights to destinations including Tokyo, Osaka, Singapore, Hong Kong, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
On the airline’s side, the new entry into Europe is also seen as a milestone. “Launching the route to Prague as our first European destination is the result of intensive preparations and close cooperation with our partners,” explained Glenn Chai, Chief Executive Officer of STARLUX Airlines. Prague has long been a popular destination for Taiwanese travellers. In addition, growing economic ties, particularly in the semiconductor sector, are likely to further increase demand for direct flights.

Founded in 2020, STARLUX Airlines is one of Asia’s youngest airlines. The five-star carrier positions itself in the premium segment and focuses on modern cabin design by BMW Designworks, high-quality onboard service and catering inspired by leading international restaurants. The Business Class features fully enclosed suites, while the First Class, with just four seats, completes the exclusive onboard offering. Economy Class passengers also benefit from generous baggage allowances.
The new direct connection is also bringing Taipei more into focus for Czech tourists. The metropolis combines modern architecture with historic sights and also offers quick excursions into the surrounding natural areas – such as Elephant Mountain overlooking the skyline or the landmark Taipei 101.
Ticket sales are expected to begin shortly and will take place mainly via the airline’s website.
