České dráhy have comprehensively modernised and significantly expanded the ČD Lounge at Prague Main Railway Station. Following four months of renovation work, the redesigned waiting area now offers more space, a contemporary design and, for the first time, a dedicated business zone.

Travellers at Prague Main Railway Station can once again make use of the ČD Lounge. Over the past four months, the waiting area operated by the state railway company České dráhy has undergone extensive modernisation, been considerably enlarged and seen its capacity more than tripled.

As part of the refurbishment, the number of seats has increased from the original 24 to 76. The aim of the project was to create a representative, modern and at the same time relaxing space. “The modernisation of the ČD Lounge at Prague Main Railway Station is another step towards improving travel comfort with České dráhy. We want passengers to perceive train travel as a comprehensive service that begins already at the station,” explains Michal Krapinec, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of České dráhy.

A key new feature is the business zone with partially separated booths, offering greater privacy and comfort. Power sockets for charging mobile devices and free Wi-Fi are available in sufficient numbers. A pleasant atmosphere is created, among other things, by a green moss wall that brings a touch of nature into the interior. High-quality materials such as natural stone on the work surfaces underline the lounge’s premium character. A large proportion of the seating furniture comes from the Czech traditional manufacturer TON, as do other design elements, including lighting supplied by domestic producers.

Services for all ages

Guests can take advantage of a wide range of free services, including coffee from regularly changing brands – including local roasteries – small sweet snacks, soft drinks and a welcome drink in the business zone. For families, staff provide games and children’s books, which are also available in the ČD Fanshop.

Access to the ČD Lounge in Prague is available to travellers with a valid ticket under ČD fare conditions or an international ticket – including first-class passengers, second-class passengers with a seat reservation, holders of the IN-100 card, passengers travelling with children up to ten years of age, pregnant women, and holders of a ZTP or ZTP-P disability card.

The cost of the modernisation amounted to approximately five million Czech crowns. České dráhy also operates further ČD Lounges, including in Brno and Olomouc.
