The AC Sparta Praha fanshop in Terminal 2 of Prague Airport will remain open for at least five more years. Since its opening in August 2024, the store has proven to be a great success, particularly among the club’s international supporters.

The AC Sparta Praha fanshop at Terminal 2 of Prague Airport has established itself as a success: due to positive financial results, the airport management is extending its cooperation with the club for at least another five years. Since opening in August 2024, the store has demonstrated that Sparta has a fanbase not only in the Czech Republic but also internationally.

“The AC Sparta Praha fanshop is an attractive addition for our travellers and has achieved excellent results from the outset. With this concept, we wanted to offer a modern shopping experience that combines new elements and opportunities to make time at the airport enjoyable. The strong demand and the quality of the concept confirm that linking a prominent Czech sports brand with an international airport makes sense. We are delighted to continue this collaboration in the coming years,” says Jaroslav Petržela, Board Member of Prague Airport responsible for Non-Aviation Services.

The approximately 275-square-metre retail space is now one of the largest shops at Prague Airport. The shop’s design and concept have already received multiple national and international awards. According to Tomáš Křivda, CEO of AC Sparta Praha, the airport fanshop is an important component of the club’s international strategy.

“We operate on the principle that every football fan has a main club but also identifies with other brands in each country – their so-called second club. These are exactly the fans we want to reach. The airport is the ideal place to present Sparta to an international audience and create emotions that go beyond a single purchase,” explains Křivda. More than 83 per cent of the fanshop’s customers are foreigners, who take home jerseys, clothing, and accessories as mementos of Prague after their holiday.

“The public often perceived the opening of the fanshop purely as a brand move. It is all the more pleasing to see that it is also a very solid and profitable project for the club. This confirms that our ambitions – in terms of both scale and execution – were set correctly,” concludes Vojtěch Šišma, Chairman of Footballmania, the operator of the Sparta fanshop at Prague Airport.
