Bolt is launching a new language programme in the Czech Republic for its foreign partner drivers who transport customers by car. The aim is to improve communication in Czech. Those who fail the test can take a course covering the key terms needed for everyday situations.
The ride-hailing company Bolt is introducing a new language programme for its partner drivers in the Czech Republic. According to the news portal denikz.cz, Bolt aims to improve communication with customers in the local language through the new programme. Those who fail the mandatory test will have the opportunity to take a course that familiarises drivers with basic Czech vocabulary and speaking skills for everyday use in the ride-hailing service.
Partner drivers are often foreigners who do not speak Czech
As part of the programme, drivers are expected to learn around 400 basic words and simple phrases. Bolt aims to ensure that customers can better understand their drivers and that communication during the ride is smoother. The company announced that the programme consists of a test followed by the course.
More and more drivers operating in Prague
The number of taxi drivers in the Czech Republic has risen significantly over the past ten years – especially in Prague. According to recent estimates, there are now up to 16,000 drivers operating in the capital. A key reason for the increase is the growth of alternative ride-hailing services, which has also brought many foreign drivers into the market.
Stricter environmental regulations for taxis from 2027
From August 2027, only taxis meeting the Euro 6d emissions standard will be allowed to operate in Prague. This was decided by the city council yesterday. The rule applies to vehicles registered from 1 January 2021 onwards. The measure aims to improve air quality in the capital and remove older, more polluting vehicles from the roads.
